Several of you have asked me forĀ a study guide for the final exam. As I have explained to all classes, the exam is an open-note exam. Because I am allowing you the use of all of your notes, worksheets, and prior tests during the test, I will not be handing out a study guide. The short answer to the question “what is on the final?” is “EVERYTHING.” If we covered it in class during the third or fourth nine weeks, it will likely show up on the final. Your notes to date are your study guide.
However, to refresh your memory as to what we covered so you can focus your studying on a few key areas, the following is a list of the topics that will be tested on the final.
- Words of the Day (all of them)
- Grammar (parts of speech)
- Poetry (types, devices, and specific poems)
- Modern Literary Elements (those covered in the mini-lessons)
- “Winter Dreams”
- “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”
- The Writing Process (the 5 steps in detail)
