Today in class I handed out progress reports. They are current through the Walt Whitman assignment. There will be a make-up day at the end of the nine weeks for those missing assignments. I will let you know what day next week in class.
Students in 2nd period took the test you missed yesterday. Those of you who were not in class today will need to be prepared to take the vocabulary test first thing Monday morning. You will not be given class time to study before the test.
In 4th, 5th, and 7th periods, I gave an extra-credit writing assignment to all students. See below for details. If you are a 4th, 5th, or 7th period student and missed class today, there is no graded assignment to make up.
Extra Credit Assignment
Write a poem, short story, essay, or letter incorporating as many of your word-of-the-day vocabulary words as you can properly use. Points will be awarded based on quantity and quality. The word must be used correctly in order to earn credit. There is no minimum or maximum number of terms you must use; just remember, the more vocabulary words you use correctly, the more extra credit points you will earn.
